Hazel de Mesa is co-owner, co-founder, and Managing Director of Natural Health Supply, a small internet retail company selling niche health products. That’s 18 years in business, several millions of dollars in sales, and 100 products sold to thousands of return customers worldwide.
Prior to that, Hazel worked her way through three Pleasant Care nursing facilities as a social worker, then later as assistant nursing home administrator. During the 5 years she was with the company, she created and published the company monthly print newsletter, which had a circulation that covered their 20 nursing facilities in California and Nevada. She also created and published the company website, PleasantCare.com.
Since 2014 she has been spending her summers at Camp Tapawingo, a sleepaway camp for girls, as photographer and musician for special events. She created the Photographer/Photoblogger operations manual to balance the needs of campers, camp administration, and campers’ parents.
Hazel’s passion for storytelling developed during the first 20 years of her life in the Philippines, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts from Ateneo de Manila University. Soon she followed her heart and moved to New York City to study Musical Theatre. She performed in shows at night and ran a children’s theatre program during the day. Noteworthy performances include concert backing vocals to Barry Manilow and Lea Salonga; a New York Times reviewed Off-Broadway play; and a Shakespeare festival with the late Dana Reeve.
She now lives in an old farmhouse in Camden, Maine with her husband, daughter, cat, and dog.
