Hooligan Heart is a little seafaring love song I wrote on ukulele one night in a cottage on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I recorded it years later in a 200-year-old farmhouse in Coastal Maine. Though I am no sailor, this song has been sung near two of the world’s largest oceans.
Hooligan Heart
music and lyrics by Hazel de Mesa
Ruby heart stone
Wherever you roam
Wear it and you’ll never
Be far from home
So long, I’ve waited
For my lover’s sweet rescue
Warm are the nights
When I’m dreaming of you
My hooligan heart
Beats only for you
Across the deep blue
We sail, me and you
Singing a song of love
Out of tune
So long, I’ve waited
For my lover’s sweet rescue
Warm are the nights
When I’m dreaming of you
My hooligan heart
Beats only for you
Valhallarama, so long…
